PR is not a band-aid for a faulty product.

Form cannot replace substance. It is like a bad movie. You have to believe that the trailer has the most saleable parts in it. In a comedy the best jokes, an action film the strongest and most intense scene. If the trailer fails to sell the premise of the movie I'd what the studio thinks will sell the movie word of mouth will sink the release.

How many times have you gone to see a film and found it to be different from what the trailer led you to believe? Sometimes we are pleasantly surprised as in the case of a drama that is sold on a few light moments but catches us with real depth...and sometimes we see exactly why the trailer sold the movie and the best scenes were the ones we'd already seen in the trailer.

Reviews do not discourage us from seeing a movie I just did it myself and saw a film that was given 2 stars by critics. Let's face it, as critics, we expect them to be at odds with pop culture. However, should friends confirm the critics’ opinion that may be enough to kill your interest.

It is the same with any product. If we see through the hype the illusion falls apart. There has to be something there to keep the interest of the consumer.
