In this shrinking economy, lots of things are disappearing from the runways. First sizes started shrinking then the number of minority models. In all of the changing trends has anyone ever thought to ask where the mature woman has gone?

In a world run by twenty-somethings where youth is the ever-selling motto we live by, I couldn't help but wonder how I would feel if I were not represented in the landscape.

Let's be truthful there are a lot of women aging very well with the age and experience to wear an outfit and not the other way around. I myself know a lot if powerful women who make an effort to stay in shape and could give any younger woman a run for her money.

It's not like women aren't out there doing it well. Look at Sophia Loren. She has been a style icon for decades. Ironically these are the women men often fantasize about in movies. If legendary status comes with age, do we dismiss our divas before they've passed their prime?

As models are replaced by actors, and trends push people to take better care of their appearance, the industry will have to take notice. And as budgets shrink and advertising gets more focused it will have to take note of its sources. Young models may be selling the clothes but they aren't the ones buying them. 

If 40 is the new 30...dare I say a revolution is coming.
